Indigo Mateo is a 22-year-old graduate from Rutgers University in New Jersey. At Rutgers, Lauren pursued a degree in Journalism and Media Studies, Social Justice and Documentary Film. Indigo shoots and edits short form documentaries, facilitates group discussions, spaces of healing and encourages education through collective knowledge. She gained experience with organizing by working with women at Rutgers (Speak Out: Exploring Womanhood), temporary workers and migrant families in New Brunswick (New Labor), and teachers, parents and students in Pittsburgh, PA (Great Public Schools, AFT). A natural organizer and performer, she hopes to continue learning strategic ways to garner people power and spread positive, healing messages through music, especially women and young girls of color. She is a writer, editor and artist in constant admiration of her Honduran, Salvadoran and Puerto Rican roots.
